Our Story

Opened in 2014, Kiki’s Bakeshop in downtown Watkinsville, Ga. is inspired by the great food traditions and bakeries of Europe.

Founder and owner Kirsten Bradford grew up with a German mother who loved to bake. Her German heritage is even reflected in the bakeshop’s name, Kiki, which was Kirsten’s nickname as a little girl.

After college, Kirsten moved to London to pursue a career in cooking. She eventually made her way to Atlanta, working with the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group which featured such classic old-South establishments as Pano’s & Paul’s, Pricci’s, Atlanta Fish Market, and The Buckhead Bread.  Next on her culinary journey was Athens, where she shared her cooking skills with the Athens Country Club and the renowned Five and Ten restaurant.

After falling in love with nearby Watkinsville, Kirsten decided to pull together all her experiences to start her own bakery in the city’s historic Town Center.

Kirsten is mostly inspired by her loyal customers, whom she loves making happy with the foods created in her bakeshop. “I simply love the magic of baking – blending fresh and tasty ingredients together, then baking them into something quite different and wonderful.”
